We're not partisan
We run both. About a third of our retainers are on Workspace, the rest on M365. The choice should be driven by the work, not the brand.
1. Email + calendar for everyone
Gmail is still the cleaner mail client for non-power users. Calendar interop is smoother. If your business is mostly meeting-heavy admin work, Workspace wins.
2. Real-time collaboration
Google Docs handles ten people editing the same paragraph better than Word. Always has.
3. Browser-first, low-IT teams
Workspace's admin console is materially simpler. Smaller businesses without a dedicated IT person fare better on it.
Where M365 wins
Complex security and compliance. Defender for Endpoint, Sentinel, Purview — these have no real Workspace equivalent. If you're in finance, legal, healthcare, or anywhere with regulatory pressure, M365 is the right call.
How to choose
Start with the work. Don't start with the brand you've heard of. We'll happily quote a Workspace migration even though we make more billing the M365 ones.
